Eat Your Heart Out McDonald’s

Since I love having a big fattening breakfast on Sunday morning (not sure why, we never did that, or hell, any breakfast together when I was a kid, maybe it’s yet another instance of over-compensation from a bad childhood) I decided instead of boosting the economy by eating a fast food fat and salt-laden garbage Egg McMuffin I’d make my own so I did: Thomas’ English Muffin topped with a slice of smoked Gouda cheese with a fat-free poached fresh-from-the-farm egg topped with a sprinkle of Herbes de Provence, served with a side of Greek style yogurt and fresh squeezed orange juice from Trader Joe’s. Still fat-laden but oh so good hehe. I think I can live quite well without McDonald’s but I swear I would die without cheese and Trader Joe’s. ;)

Oh, and I did a little math (scary!) and came up with the following:

My made-at-home fat-o-rama breakfast nutritional info:
551 calories
21g fat
65g carbs
30g protein

My normal McD’s and ‘Buck’s breakfast (Egg McMuffin + Caramel Frappacino whipped) info:
800 calories
28g fat
80g carbs
26g protein

Yikes. So my fattening Sunday breakfast doesn’t actually look all that bad after all! And if I’d eat the nonfat Greek yogurt with some fruit instead of the full-on fat flavored version, it’d be even better! And that McD’s + ‘Buck’s thing doesn’t include the extra caramel or the additional McGriddle sandwich or the sometimes evil sausage biscuit with egg that I sometimes get hehe. I was afraid to look hehee.
