Friday, February 27, 2004 Today I am feeling: Curmudgeonly
Books I am reading: Games I am playing: none right now but crossing fingers for WOW beta Sims Makin' Magic On Wednesday, I had 5 Slashdot mod points, used 2 of them leaving 3, then the next day I had 5 again, and today I used all 5, leaving zero. Now, the challenge: Using SlashMath, how many mod points will I have tomorrow? In other news, the cat caught another bird a couple days ago, but this time was a good kitty and carried it outside in her mouth after her mommy told her to, then she released it (after a bit of whining through bird-filled mouth) after her mommy told her to. Good kitty! At school I finally got a 10 outta 10 on an art assignment yay! Watercolor painting class, I did a still life of some stick with some fake berries on it, teacher liked it yay. Odd thing is, I did 2 still lives and one took me about 2 hours to do and the other took about 1/2 an hour, I got the 10 on the 1/2 hour one, maybe my problem is I spend too much time on stuff, maybe I should just do it quick and dirty hehe. I do tend sorta wanna fuss with stuff too much. Anyway, I'm feeling a bit less frustrated now, and next week we get to take a field trip to the Japanese Gardens and the Rancho Los Alamitos and paint, should be fun, hopefully no rain is forecast. In strike news, apparently the stores and the union have reached a 'tentative' agreement. Not sure exactly what, but from rumors I've heard/read from both sides, it's basically the same offer the union turned down almost five months ago. Supposedly there will still be a two-tier system that the stores wanted, which basically means all new hires will get paid less and get crappier benefits and pay more for those they do get, while the "old timers" will get screwed outta hours because no manager in their right mind would schedule an overpaid worker for a shift when they could schedule a new low-pay employee, gotta protect those manager bonuses yannow. I did hear they basically "saved" the pension fund thing which in my opinion was the only valid gripe from the union, but apparently they decided to hype the whole healthcare thing instead. As far as that is concerned, I heard employees will pay for it through paycheck deductions of a nominal amount (the last proprosal it was $5/week for single people) but that the stores would pay more into the health fund, at least at first and they'd pay more in if the fund didn't have enough to cover costs for the first two years of the contract, but after two years the stores wouldn't put more in to cover costs, so they'd be paid by the workers. So basically, the stores "win" except for the old timer healthcare, which the union "wins" for 2 years, then they lose. Some of the union sheep, erm workers though don't like the two-tier system and there are rumors a lot of them will reject the contract when they vote this weekend, so, it may not be over till the fat picketer sings. Personally, it doesn't affect me much cuz I've been shopping wherever I want to all along, but I am quite tired of the jacked-up prices at stores, hopefully post-strike sales will have good deals to "lure me back" haha. But if I see former picketers at the checkout, they better be nice, and if not, I'll make them earn their pay ... "Why, yes, I would like help out to my car." No more taking the cart back to the rack for me, no sir (and yes I did that before and also during the strike, but since the stores decided not to break the union, I'm not gonna do it anymore ... yeah it's childish but so is yelling at customers and insulting them for crossing picket lines.)

Monday, February 23, 2004 Today I am feeling: Amused
Books I am reading: Games I am playing: Sims Makin' Magic waiting with bated breath for WOW beta I took my digital camera to school today to shoot some reference photos for an art project I'm working on, and since I'm done with my ceramics project and got out early from class, I came home and shot a quick really bad movie of my cat. It took me a total of about 5 minutes to do from shoot to the time it was uploaded, and it's raw video, no editing except to add a title page. Basically I was just seeing if it worked. And yes I know the video quality is horrible, but I shot it with a very cheap digital camera not a digital video camera. I do have to say my cat is quite the actress though, she did her part in one take and improvised a yawn. So, without further adieu, here's the first of the really bad BADKITTY! movies: Kaia Windows Media Format (sorry), approximate size 12 megs (sorry for those on dialup you know who you are.)
