Tuesday, July 29, 2003 Today I am feeling: amused
Books I am reading: Beacham's Sourcebooks for Teaching Young Adult Fiction: Exploring Harry Potter E. Schafer Games I am playing: Asheron's Call [online RPG] Puzzle Pirates [online game] Here is something to do when you are bored silly: Take a webpage in another language such as this then go to here and plug that URL into the translate dealie (Japanese to English in this case) and let the fun begin! Any language works but ones with grammar or alphabets totally different from English work best. Cat update: I let her outside today and at first she was afraid to even leave the house. But she got up the courage and finally did but has not yet left the yard. I just hope she doesn't change her mind and go exploring again ... maybe just maybe she thinks that I will make her sleep outside every time she leaves the yard! She won't be going outside after dark anymore though, at least not until I'm sure I can trust her again, she's grounded! The good thing though is that all my neighbors now know which cat is mine so if she disappears again at least they can let me know if they see her. In tech news: The company I registered my domain name with changed how they do stuff. It used to be you got one free email address with a domain reg. and one (I think) with a hosting account. Plus they would sell "extra" email addresses for like $7/year. But now they changed it and my old emails won't work (except the ones that came with my reg. or hosting account) but now they allow 3 with a reg. and 2 with a hosting account or something so the extra ones I bought I don't need but now I gotta move stuff around by deleting ones from the "extras" which no longer work cuz no such thing exists anymore unless ya pay $4.95/mo for a SMTP email account, and then I gotta setup emails under either my hosting or my domain name. Grrr ... why couldn't they just move it themselves instead of disabling the accounts? Oh well, that's what I get for bein' cheap I guess. Of course, now I won't have to pay for those "extra" accounts anymore cuz they're included in the other accounts now. Plus I never used 'em anyway. Plus I had to go into billing to make sure they weren't gonna charge me that $4.95/mo for the SMTP accounts. Luckily they weren't. Now, if I could just find a use for my domain name other than filtering spam and posting junk that no one reads.

Monday, July 28, 2003 UPDATE The cat has been found. She wandered into the yard non-chalantly about noonish. I told her she was naughty and she kept running, out of the yard, across the street and under the hole dug under a neighbor's fence. Grrrrr. I had to coax her out with snacks and water. I got ahold of her and noticed her collar was not only around her neck but one of her arms too. Ooops. She probably had been stuck somewhere and tried to escape but got all tangled up in her collar, poor thing. Luckily it was a stretchy collar, but perhaps a "breakaway" one would be better because she coulda escaped easier, but then she might lose it and not have a tag ... which to choose, which to choose, 'tis a conundrum. Maybe I should just get her chipped. Anyway, the cat was very, very thirsty and very, very jumpy but is back home, in the house, and she will not be allowed outside after dark unless someone is watching her. :P But I will let her outside again, but not today, she's too busy catching up on much-needed sleep anyway, poor thing.

Today I am feeling: slashdotted ... again
Books I am reading: Beacham's Sourcebooks for Teaching Young Adult Fiction: Exploring Harry Potter E. Schafer Games I am playing: The Sims Superstar [PC] Asheron's Call [online RPG] Puzzle Pirates [online game] They are haunting me, these slashdot mod points, it happened again today and it's not even been a week! Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh! <cries> Oh well, maybe it's just because everyone is on summer vacation. In other news, my naughty minion of a cat didn't wanna come in the house last night, she was too obsessed chasing bugs and besides it was hot in the house, I don't blame her. So I let her stay outside and checked for her "jingle" every once in awhile to make sure she was still around. She came in the house to say "hi" about 10pm and around 11pm I heard her jingle outside my window, so I went outside to try to snag her and bring her in the house but I couldn't find her. So I called her and waited a bit but still no cat, huh odd. Oh well, I'll wait a bit and try again. So I did, but still no cat and now no jingle grrrr. Anyway, kept trying till about 1:30am but didn't wanna wake all the neighbors calling for my cat so I just went to bed and hoped she was smart enough to get a clue that being locked outside all night with no blanky and no food was no fun. But this morning, still no cat. Huh. Maybe she got abducted by aliens or eaten by a dog. So, I wandered around the neighborhood this morning looking for evidence of smushed kitties in the street, or stuck up trees or trapped in yards afraid to come out cuz there's a big doggie there. Nothing. So, I guess all I can do is wait, I've had cats "run away" before only to show up a day or 4 later. But this is her first "missing" incident, she's been really good about coming when I call her. Now, I know some of you will think I am a bad cat mommy for even letting my cat outside, but the poor kitty goes literally nuts if I keep her indoors and literally climbs the walls she wants out so bad, and this has been the case since I got her when she was only about 8 weeks old. She's a "wild cat" and hates to be cooped up. Besides, in the summer the house gets way too hot for her to be inside, the poor thing pants and pants if I make her stay inside during the day. So, in order not to torture my kitty I let her out, so I gradually introduced her to outdoors, first only letting her out when I could watch her, then a little longer, then unsupervised for a bit, etc. And like I said, she's been really good about coming when I call her until now. Hopefully she'll come home, or hopefully someone will find her with her l33+ little pinky cat-face ID tag and call me and tell me she's smushed in the street or whatever.
