Friday, June 13, 2003 Today I am feeling: annoyed
Books I am reading: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban J. K. Rowling Games I am playing: The Sims Superstar [PC] Sim City 4 [PC] The Sims Online [PC free trial] First off, The Sims Online still sucks. I got a CD for a free trial so I figured what the heck. I tried to re-activate my old beta account but it kept giving me a you have already used your free trial error thing. I guess "beta" is the same as a free trial? Huh ok, well, whatever. I did check to see if my old beta house was still there and it was, and my character still owns it. Go figure. Oddly enough, I found that the name of my old character is apparently banned on all servers now. Huh. Interesting. But they didn't delete the character. Huh. Almost makes me wanna re-activate my old account. Nah, not really. Anyway, SOL, as I like to call it, looks pretty much the same, it only has 2 additional worlds than it did at the end of beta, only a handful of new objects, most of which are "casino" objects. It's still harder than ever to earn money, stuff still costs too much, but they did fix that annoying "greening up" all the time problem. Now you only need to "green up" about once an hour or so, which is nice, and it seems to be easier to do as well. There weren't many people ingame though, and most of the lots I found were totally deserted and may very well have belonged to beta users who are no more. The people that I did find though seemed overly anxious to have visitors, and one house I visited insisted I change my outfit to "the look" of purple disco pants and a jester hat ... or else! Ah, yes, the mob is alive and well. Anyway, I'm 2 days into a 7 day free trial and I've already lost interest. I was so bored in fact, that I went to see "The Matrix: Reloaded" today too. I guess school must be out cuz I was the only grownup in the theater, everyone else was a teenager, one of whom not only had all the major plot points in the film memorized, but he had all the dialog of each of the 5 previews memorized too and let us all know which preview was coming up next. Our future leaders, ladies and gentlemen. The movie itself sucked big time. The story was dopey, the acting was lame, the love scene(s) were repulsive (nothin' like a close shot of those plug outlet things to take the romance outta things, no?) The action scenes made no sense, but then again, they made no sense in the first Matrix either. But I kept thinkin' "why doesn't he just jump?" everytime he got ambused by guys in suits. Finally he seemed to hear me but then he seemed to forget again. Oh well. So much for creating my own reality. Hehe. The movie was the 2nd of three and the end was well, obviously an attempt to get us to come back for the third one, but for me it was just a relief that the agony was over. And I have no plans to spend seven bucks to see the sequel's sequel. I'll wait till it's on video and I have a free rental coupon to use. The trailers on the Matrix website were more entertaining than the movie was. In other news, the website for Final Fantasy XI is up now, and I haven't even played FF X yet cuz I have no PS2 (nor the game for that matter). FF XI is online though, not sure if it's the same game as the Japanese FF online or what. I'll have to check it out more I guess.

Sunday, June 08, 2003 Today I am feeling: potty
Books I am reading: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban J. K. Rowling Games I am playing: The Sims Superstar [PC] Sim City 4 [PC] I watched the first two Harry Potter movies again today cuz I was bored and I had a revelation about upcoming book 5: Harry and Ron are brothers! Hehee. Yeah I know it's the lamest plot in the manual, strangers meet up, face adversity together, one willingly sacrifices their life for the other but miraculously lives, and they find out they're siblings. I think that whole Star Wars thing was something like that only moreso cuz it wasn't just siblings it was parents and whatnot. Anyway, here's what I think: Ron's mother Mrs. Weasley is really Harry's mum. In the first movie, when Harry is looking into the Mirror of Erised and sees his parents, the mother looks oddly like a young Mrs. Weasley to me and the father looked kinda well, hidden. Maybe it was just my tv or something but I couldn't really see his face. We do know Harry has Slytherin ties and speaks snake talk though, so maybe Mrs. Weasley boinked Professor Snape and the outcome was Harry or something. I dunno. So Harry's mother isn't really dead ... yet. Maybe she dies in book 5, this would explain the author's comment that she had trouble 're-writing' the character's death for book 5. Anyway, I hope JK Rowling doesn't sink low enough to pull out stupid plot devices like long lost siblings. I also hope she doesn't kill off Ronald Weasley, she can kill Harry for all I care but I dig Ron. And I really like Hagrid too and rumors abound that he does die in book 5, in an heroic sacrifice to save his friends. And I dunno about Dumbledore either, since the actor who played HIM in the movies really did die. But Mrs. Weasley can die, it'd add some interesting uhm ... drama seeing as poor Harry seems to have trouble keeping parental figures around. Maybe he'll turn evil and join Voldemort's side muhahaha.
