Today I am feeling: restful

Books I am reading:
Sacred Contracts Caroline Myss
Voyages Through the Universe Fraknoi/Morrison/Wolff

Games I am playing:
SimCity 4

Today is my first day off since school started, yay! No lines to stand in! No running around trying to find supplies for my classes! No homework! Uhm ... scratch that last one, I have homework in three, count them three of my five classes. I guess teachers figure since Monday is a holiday that means all the students will be home with NOTHING TO DO. Grrrr. Oh, well, it's not hard homework, mostly just reading.

In kitten news, my cat has been very angry this week, I think it's because I'm gone all day while at school and she has no one to bite and scratch all day so she saves it for me when I get home. Nice kitty.

And, I also bought SimCity 4. Since Sims Online turned out to be such a disappointment (I didn't buy it, I bailed out during beta it was so bad) I figured they couldn't possibly ruin SimCity, that wonderful icon of simulation that I've been playing in various forms for about 10 years or so. But, alas, I fear they have. They did the same to it as they did to Sims Online: They took out all the fun stuff (well some of it) and left in the icky stuff and they added more icky stuff. So now instead of a fun city building game, it's a boring stupid, slow moving micromanagement game. One high point is you can import your sims from the Sims games into SimCity 4, and I imported my pets, and one of them is the CEO of the hosipital! He complains about wanting a swimming pool though, wtf? A cat wanting water?

Today I am feeling: flusterbated

Books I am reading:
The Golden Compass Philip Pullman
Sacred Contracts Caroline Myss
Voyages Through the Universe Fraknoi/Morrison/Wolff

Games I am playing:
none - although I wish I was playing SimCity 4

One of my classes was cancelled, so I had to go ask one of the teachers who teaches another section of the class if I could join that class (I tried to register for it but it was "closed" which means either cancelled or full) and he said it was full so I whined and told him I'd been registered for another section of the class but it had been cancelled and I *really* needed it because I was transferring after this semester, etc. He finally said he could squeeze me in. That class meets tomorrow between my other 2 classes which means now instead of a nice long 6 hour break between 2 classes I now have one class, a 2 1/2 hour break, another class, another 2 1/2 hour break and a third class. 2 1/2 hours is too long to be enjoyable and too short to bother going home then coming back and fighting for a parking space *again*. Yesterday I logged almost 3 miles walking to and from my car ... twice. I don't wanna do it 3 times. And since the class that was cancelled was between 2 other classes on tuesday-thursday, I now have yet another 2 1/2 hour break there! Grrrr. Oh well, I will have no excuses for not getting my homework done. I just hope my Saturday class isn't cancelled or I'm gonna have to beg again to get into a 9am monday class which means I'll be at school from 9am till 10pm monday. Great, just what I wanted. Now, I gotta go cuz I have another 5 chapters of Astronomy to read before tomorrow. <mutter>

Today I am feeling: s'ok

The deadline has passed for that lawsuit thingie I got a letter about a month or so ago. I decided to give in to my light side. I figured that it's unlikely I, as a former peon counselor (as opposed to an ASC or SRC) would get anything anyway, especially since I quit before EA pulled the perks and fired all the counselors. I also figured it might do some damage, since court records are public records (although I'm not sure if names/addresses of people in class action suits is public) and since I might actually want to work in the gaming industry once I graduate, I didn't wanna chance it. I can just see my interview with EA: "Hmmm ... we see your name on the list of the plaintiffs for the lawsuit filed against us, care to explain?" Heheee. And the game industry is kinda like the publishing industry, everyone knows yer bizniz cuz people know each other (which can be a good thing). So, I decided not to add my name to the list (which from what I've heard is pretty short hehe.) I may kick myself if EA loses and hands out checks for thousands of dollars, but I will feel good knowing I did the right thing. After all, I got what I was promised, which was a free account in exchange for my services.

In other news, my cat was very pissy this morning, I dunno why. I sometimes think she has multiple purrsonality disorder or something, sometimes she's Snuggle Kitty from Heaven and other times she's Evil Wicked Biting Attack Kitty from Hell. And I can't figure what it is that makes her change sometimes. But she does get "mad" if she doesn't get her way, it's kinda cute, if I tell her "No!" to get outta the trash (or some other behavior she "knows" is "wrong"), then she'll get nasty and start racing around the room snarling and growling and doing her little mad kitty dance, then she'll run up and bite me real quick then run under the bed so I can't get her. It's cute in a very annoying way. But it's getting more and more painful as her jaws and teeth get stronger and bigger. She may end up on the Mean Kitty site real soon now.

Today I am feeling: astronomical

Books I am reading:
The Golden Compass Philip Pullman
Sacred Contracts Caroline Myss
Voyages Through the Universe Fraknoi/Morrison/Wolff

Games I am playing:
none

I started school today. So far, so good. Monday and Wednesday are astronomy day (unless some of my other classes later this week get cancelled then I'm gonna have some major re-arranging and possibly praying <G> to do to get everything all worked out.) I'm taking an astronomy lecture and lab and tonight we got to look at Jupiter through a telescope the teacher brought and it looked kinda like this: It was kinda small and a bit blurry due to fog and maybe being a bit outta focus, and I couldn't see any moons, but it was the first time I'd seen Jupiter's stripes except in pictures. I saw Saturn once eons ago as a kid up at the observatory but Jupiter is more impressive.

In kitten news, my cat is up to a whopping 3/4 cans of cat food a day now! Only a month ago it took her a whole week to eat an entire (3 oz) can but now she munches one almost every day, plus a little dry food for snacks, but being a typical fussy pussy, she prefers canned to dry. Dry is easier though cuz I can leave it out all day long and I don't have to open cans or wash her dish 3 times a day.

In other news, I learned something frightening today. I learned there exists something called a Jackhammer Jesus. Now, for those of you who don't know what it is, I won't tell you, but if you must know, go here and read the entry for January 13th. Children and overly uptight Christians need not click. All I have to say about this is it made me want to nail one to my front door with a sign that says "Hallelujah Jesus!" only substituting another word beginning with F and rhyming with a synonym for mallard in place of the word Hallelujah. Yes, I am evil, evil incarnate. But I thought it was kinda funny in a sick non-Christian kinda way.
