Today I am feeling: snack-o-rific

Books I am reading:
The Golden Compass Philip Pullman
Sacred Contracts Caroline Myss

Games I am playing:
none

I've been reading a lot trying to catch up on the stuff I've had piling up for the last year. I'm almost done with The Golden Compass (the first book in the His Dark Materials trilogy) which is saying a lot seeing as I have to force myself to read a little every day. It's not such a bad story, but the writing style is just boring and unimaginative and overly detailed with things that don't matter. But I have the whole trilogy so I want to find out what happens (sort of). I've also been reading a few other books none of which I've finished so I just picked the two listed above as the ones I'm trying to finish for now. I start to read about 5 times as many books as I actually finish, usually due to their boring nature. Take the first book in the Left Behind series for example. Ugh what a piece of garbage. I thought I'd try to read one of the books in the overly long series about the "end times" just to see what the hype is all about but it was just so badly written I didn't want to torture myself. Some of you Bible-believing Christians are probably saying I couldn't read it cuz I'm evil. Hehee. Could be, but hey, if this book is based on stuff that really might happen, I'll pick being left behind to burn to a crisp in "hell" any day if the ones who get to go bye-bye are those who are "saved". I think I'll just believe in elves and hope my salvation is forthcoming.

In kitten news, the cat has finally realized she's a cat and has started sleeping during the day. This of course means I now do not sleep much at night since the cat thinks it's playtime as soon as the lights go out. So, she has spent a lot of time in the "penalty box" this week. Maybe she'll get a clue soon, or maybe not. Or maybe she'll just chase her tail and make herself so dizzy she passes out. I hope.

I've also been snacking on some Bertie Bott's Everyflavor Beans and I have to say I've taken quite a liking to the vomit flavored ones. I couldn't stomach them at first, but now they taste quite like a sort of reject version of those sour jelly beans kids like. I also read an article about BB beans and they said they used real pepper in the pepper ones, no wonder I like them so much! They didn't say if they used real dirt in the dirt ones though, but it sure tastes like it. The only ones I cannot eat are the sardine ones, which, they say, were a tweaked version of the anchovy flavor Jelly Belly beans that are apparently no longer available (I wonder why!) All this bean eating has got me craving the "normal" Jelly Belly beans though, I used to really like the coconut and licorice and buttered popcorn ones.

Today I am feeling: undecided

Books I am reading:

I heard a funny scratchy kinda sound under my desk and I thought my cat was tearing the masking tape off my computer desk [where I have cardboard taped to it to keep her away from the cords] so I look under my chair and my cat is there ... eating a Cheeto. I guess I need to be more careful in my snacking habits.

I was digging through my file cabinet and found some of the junk I'd written eons ago (and I do mean eons we're talkin' almost a couple of decades ago) and I decided to torture my readers by putting a couple of them on my webpage. So far, there's only one posted but I'll put a couple more up as soon as I get them all typed into the computer, they're SO old they were either hand written or typed on a typewriter because this was before word processors (or before I had one anyway). You have been warned, they are bad, very, very bad. A couple of them were even rejected by publishers, and yes I am very ashamed that I even submitted them to publishers, how naive I was <sigh>.

In other news, I checked the Where's George site today and noticed that, sure enough, within a few days of my last bill submission, I got yet another hit! I swear, they must track whether you're active and if not, your hits don't get recorded or something. Either that or it's an amazing coincidence but all of my hits have been within a week of having posted bills.

For Jevvie:

She just may be trying to make contact with her home planet, I'm not sure.

Today I am feeling: allergic

Books I am reading:
The Golden Compass Philip Pullman
Sacred Contracts Caroline Myss

Games I am playing:
Redshift2 [ok it's not a game it's an astronomy software dealie but it was free with my astronomy class textbook and it's fun so it qualifies as a game]

My cat is going nuts cuz it's so windy here the last couple days. The cat has this obsession or something where if something moves, she MUST chase it, well ... this is fine within the confines of her Room of Doom full of cat toys, but if I open the window so she can see outside, everything is moving, so she feels compelled to chase things ... through the window ... which results in numerous bonks to the head. Thankfully my windows are covered in that tinted film junk so if she breaks one I don't think it'll do too much damage. But my poor kitty is developing into a true neurotic cat now, head bonking and tail chasing, oh dear, what will I do? She's very smart though ... she learns a new trick almost every day, her newest one is to hop up and grab hold of the window sill and hang there then do a chinup and peep out the window to watch birds. When she gets tired, she hangs again, then repeats the chinup. It's rather cute but very annoying when she insists on doing it when the mini-blinds are down and the window is closed. The Kitten Pix page has been updated with a poor quality pic of her doing a chinup (sorry, the camera's auto-exposure apparently read the daylight outside the window so the pic is underexposed and I'm too lazy to twiddle with the settings to get a better pic.)
