Why is it that cats always want to "help" make the bed? I swear, every single cat I've ever owned felt the need to help me make my bed. Are they looking for those pesky bed mice that they know are in there somewhere? Do they see bed bugs that I don't? I don't get it. I mean, is getting a blanket tossed over your head really that much fun? Oh well, I guess it's better than them wanting to help me cook dinner.
In other kitty news, my cat discovered the joy of birdwatching today. It was a nice warm California winter day (haha sorry east coasters but it was about 80 degrees here today) and she got to play outside for awhile. She has gotten brave enough to venture from the patio to the back yard where, joy of all joys there is a birdbath and a bird feeder (in the neighbor's yard). My cat also earned a new nickname: "Chitter" for the little chitter noise she makes when bird watching. I guess she gets so excited she can't contain her joy, which is actually a good thing for the birds cuz it gives them an audible warning she's there.
I also found that my Sportbrain makes a good kitty toy. So now, if I don't get in my 10,000 steps a day I can just toss my Sportbrain to my cat to get a few extra steps. Hehe. Actually, I do have a spare Sportbrain around here somewhere, I could give her her own and see who "wins" each day. Too bad the cat is so small and Sportbrains aren't water proof or I could just attach it to her collar along with her nametag.
Also, the 2003 Kitten Pix! page has been updated with pix of the "food dance" and a new pic of the kitty kickin' back.

I spent the day cleaning out my closet so I have a "safe" spot to put stuff where my cat can't get to it. I had a lot of crap in my closet. I had boxes from pretty much everything I've bought in the last 5 years as well as a buncha miscellaneous junk I've collected in the last 5 years. After I tossed all the empty boxes, I still had 4 storage boxes worth of stuff I wanted to keep. I threw out a trashcan full of stuff too! What a sad life I lead hehe. I am a bit of a packrat but fortunately I don't own a house so I can't get too carried away and I move every few years so that gets rid of stuff too. But damn, do I really need 2 years worth of Oprah magazines? Nope! Hehe. Anyway after an entire day of sorting, tossing and packing, my closet is now half empty and I can see the floor of it!
My cat was not amused during all this though, this is the second day in a row that I've "redecorated" and I think she's afraid I'll toss her toys (or her) out with all my junk cuz she was very anxious today. Poor thing is sleeping like a baby now, I just hope she stays that way all night. She got stuck in masking tape at least twice today, once getting it rolled up around her while trying to escape, I had to grab her and carefully remove the tape without removing too much fur. She also managed to get her paw stuck in the "handle" of a storage box yesterday and screamed bloody murder whilst doing somersaults to get free. I had to calm her down and lift (yes lift) her paw out. Dumb cat all she had to do was lift it straight up, but alas, she loves to twist and shout. Oh well, she survived and I think learned to avoid chasing invisible mice through box handle holes too!
My cat also got a new nametag, which means I have to keep her now that she's an official "pet". The tag is kinda big and it bugged her a bit the first day, but she's gotten used to it now and thinks she's cool with her sparkly reflective hot pink kitty faced name tag. Or maybe not.
In other news, while taking a break from box moving today, I learned something: One of the characters in the Harry Potter books is real. Well, maybe not real but at least legendary. It seems there really was a Philosopher's Stone and an Elixir of Life and a Nicholas Flamel. Or a legend of him anyway. So I guess this J.K. Rowling is not such a bad writer after all, at least she does her research. Actually though, after having read the first 4 chapters of The Golden Compass from the His Dark Materials series, the HP books are pretty darn good. So far the GC has hardly been a page turner. But the HP books took me between 2 and 5 days a piece to read, they were much more absorbing.

Last night was my cat's first New Year's Eve. She was not amused. I live in a neighborhood where people think it's fun to shoot off firecrackers and guns to "celebrate" the New Year. My cat insisted on peeping through the mini-blinds to catch the perps in the act with her super kitten night vision. Unfortunately, the window looks out onto a WALL. Hehe. So, she didn't catch anyone. My cat was unusually snuggly last night though, I didn't have to yell at her once the whole night to stop doing something that woke me up, so despite her seeming bravery I think she was really scared outta her little kitten head by all the ruckus.

I have added a Kitten Pix! page to my blog, the link is over in the description box, I will be updating kitten pix there instead of within the blog itself unless she does something *really* cute, in which case I'll force you to download a kitten pic, but I will be kind and make it a thumbnail instead of the big ones I've been doing cuz I'm lazy and it's easier to type width=250 than it is to resize/resave the graphic. I will also be adding a new feature under my how am I feeling thingie: Since I've got so much time on my hands right now I'll put in occasionally what book(s) I'm reading and what game(s) I'm playing. I may also redesign the template for my blog if I feel inspired which I don't at the moment, all I know is I'm kinda tired of the stale old look and now that I've got a digital camera I should be able to make something a little nicer looking. :P

Today I am feeling: georgy
I was bored today so I visited Where's George?. No, it's not a website about George Bush. It's a website where bored outta their minds people like me can go and do something useless with their time: Enter serial numbers for money into a database then track where they go, whee! I first georged (is that even a word?) a few months ago but hadn't done it in awhile, and haven't had any hits lately. I've had a total of 4 hits with about 100 bills entered. My first hit was on my birthday too yay! Anyway, it seems whenever I enter a few bills, mysteriously I get a hit within a few days, so I entered some more today. And oddly enough, for me at least, it seems larger bills have more hits than smaller ones do. Huh.
In other news, my kitten got to play outside today, she's getting braver and has ventured more than a few feet from the doorway, and found a nice little mud puddle to play in (we got some rain yesterday) so now I have a nice little mud kitty. She's also teething again I think, she's got this "I must bite your finger now" thing goin' again that I thought she'd gotten over about a month ago. Oh well, soon she will have big kitty teeth which hopefully won't be as sharp as those tiny daggers she has in her vise-like jaw now.

Open wide and say "Ahhhh!" so we can see your toofies!

Now, go away you mean monster and let me sleep!
