I went out to the university today cuz I had to take a test (some dum test they refer to as the "whoopee" ie Writing Proficiency Exam) and while there I cruised around campus a bit to see if it was the same as I remember. I checked out the psych building to see if my old pelting platform was there and it was <trembles with excitement> but unfortunately there was some kind of orientation thing going on so there were witnesses around so I couldn't try it out. I did remember a couple things wrong though, there is no way I coulda been on the top floor and pelted, the angle is too steep. And I couldn't see the elevators thru glass either, I coulda *sworn* I could years ago but maybe they've changed that or something. Or maybe my vivid imagination just wished it was that way. Everything else was pretty much the same except the trees are bigger and there's a lot of construction work going on. I didn't wander up to check out the building with the wading pool, erm reflection pond under it though, I used to have heaps of fun in that thing on hot summer days when the fountains were on. I don't even know if they have water in it anymore cuz some dum kid might come along and drown or something. Although how you can drown in 6 inches of water is beyond me, unless of course you climb up on a sculpture and jump off, whacking your head on the way down knocking yourself unconscious or something. Not that I ever did that - I *knew* how to jump off sculptures, thanks in large part to the huge amount of practice I had on campus. Speaking of sculptures I'll have to wander around again sometime and see if my old favorite jumping ones are still there. They used to have concrete under 'em too, which made jumping all the more fun and challenging. Anyway, it was fun reminiscing. Having to park way the heck out in the boondocks wasn't fun though, I'd forgotten how uphill the walk is from lower campus to upper campus.

Oh, goodie, homegrown viruses. And I thought computer viruses were fun.

How much do you trust Microsoft™? I dunno about you but I don't even fully trust them with my operating system - did you know that in the latest update for Windows™ you are forced to agree to a EULA that basically gives MS the right to monitor what's on your computer? So, if you are in the habit of uhm ... pirating software or music without paying for it, you may find odd things happening on your computer. Of course, it serves you right for *stealing* hehe. That's one thing I actually support Microsoft on, I don't agree with their methods though.

Anyway, back to trusting Microsoft, or any online company for that matter. I know that I will not use MS Passport in conjunction with a credit card ... in fact I quit the game Asheron's Call a few months ago because they required users to obtain a passport in order to play the game ... they don't as yet require your credit card to be associated with said passport however, and I succumbed to drudge stew withdrawl (figure that one out hehe) and re-activated my account a month or so ago, primarily because the beta test of AC2 is upcoming and I haven't gotten in yet dammit grrr. But any online company that requires use of a passport to purchase things is a company that won't get my business ... even if Amazon.com starts doing it. I almost quit using them a few years ago when they changed their privacy policy to allow them to share information about their users with third party companies. But I am so addicted to Amazon.com it's sad ... I go to the local Border's bookstore and peruse the shelves for what I'm looking for, then I go home and order the book(s) on Amazon.com. Maybe Amazon.com should go back to the good old days when if you wanted to order from them you had to print out an order form and send it via snail mail because there was no such thing as SSL online ordering at the time.

We are all gonna be dead in 50 years, oh no! Enjoy your SUV and your conspicuously consumptive lifestyle now hehe. Personally I think we'll all be dead before then judging from the way things are in the world now, but I'm a pessimist when it comes to humanity. I do kinda wish people would pay attention to something other than their own wants though (notice I said "wants" not "needs", a lotta people confuse the two as in "I need a new SUV my old one is 2 years old.") I'm glad I haven't fully bought into the materialistic attitude most Americans have though, it makes me feel a little less guilty for letting the planet go to pot, but being an American I am still responsible to some degree. I don't own an SUV though, but I really "need" <G> one of those nifty cool Honda Civic hybrids. Anyone wanna give me the money for one? ;)
