School is almost out (yay!) and I've been thinking again. Funny how I always start thinking when school is *over*. Anyway, this past semester I took a class in witchcraft ... well ... not exactly, but it had "witchcraft" in the title of the class. It was really more of an anthropology of religion and mythology class. The instructor of this class has a sense of humor: for instance, on her multiple choice tests sometimes one of the possibilities will be something like "George Lucas" or "Carl Sagan" or "Scott Adams" ... Scott Adams? Eh? Isn't that the guy who writes Dilbert? Weird. Why the heck would she put a Dilbert answer in there when the other "wrong" answers are at least in some way related to the subject matter of the course? Well, being the curious being that I am, I did what I usually do when I have unanswered questions ... I consulted the Oracle of Google. And as usual, the Oracle enlightened me: Scott Adams wrote a book called God's Debris. So, I located a copy of said book and read it. I liked the book but I was a bit disappointed that my brain was not sufficiently spun around inside my skull. But then again, my brain is used to being twisted into tight knots while being spun around inside my skull for long periods of time. In other words, many of the ideas that Mr. Adams introduces in his book are things that were familiar to me, largely due to my habit of contemplating the universe and the meaning of life and the nature of god as a hobby of sorts. Unfortunately for me, I didn't publish my ideas or I could have filed a copyright infringement. Heh. Well, maybe not quite, but it was kind of fun reading familiar stuff. And of the stuff that wasn't familiar, I had fun seeing things in new ways, although I didn't necessarily agree with them and in some cases, the logic seemed flawed, but then, that was the point of the book. If you like having your core beliefs challenged, read this book. If you don't, then read Dilbert. :)
