Got home today to find a notice from the city:

"Notification of Intended Filming with Pyrotechnics and Helicopter Activity"

it went on to say that "There will be a LARGE EXPLOSION AND FIREBALL"(emphasis theirs not mine) on Wednesday in the park nearby. Apparently CSI Miami is in town again. Too bad I have to work during the scheduled time, it would be fun to watch, not often you see a huge fireball in your town.

I guess they passed out the notices so neighbors don't panic and think North Korea has nuked the park, although my guess is they'll still get a few panicked calls to 911.

They do quite a bit of movie/TV filming in the park around here, the last one I noticed was The Omen about a year ago but I know there's been a lot, especially commercials, and CSI Miami filmed an episode awhile back at one of my old colleges too. I guess suburbian southern California looks a lot like Miami. Who knew?

Oh, and in even bigger news, I have added a Wii countdown to my blog, hurray!

Comments:
If a movie company is filming nearby, it's agreed to by your community leaders, but it inconviences you in any way, then I think they should pay you for the right to film nearby.

It's not like they can't afford it.

Well, I know people who let film companies use their homes for instance, get paid, but filming done in a public park (or on a public street) the film company pays the city, but not the residents. Would be nice though if they did!

I think it's kinda fun though to watch 'em setup and film stuff, especially if they don't shoo you away for "interfering" not that that's ever happened to ME. Hehe.

Unfortunately most of the "location" stuff done around here is just second unit junk, no big stars and stuff, although I think when they filmed Meet the Fockers, Stiller and maybe DeNiro were there, although I'm not sure cuz I didn't know about that one till after the fact.

BTW, most of the filming around here takes place at night, with those giant annoyingly bright flood lights set up to make it look like daytime. :D
