The crunch has begunch, erm begun. School is out in three weeks (four if you count finals week) and all those research papers, presentations, and projects are coming due soon. So, alas, the burnout phase has commenced. Thankfully (haha!) Turkey Day is coming soon so I will have six count them SIX days off to ... do homework! Hooray! Erm yeah. Anyway, I'm glad the semester is almost over, and I'm undecided if I'm going to try to find a temp job for the month-long break between semesters or if I'm just gonna chill and re-energize and actually do some fun stuff that I haven't had time to do much of the last four months. I guess it depends if my financial aid comes through or not hehe.

In other news, several days ago I sliced the tip of my pinky finger off washing dishes. Well, ok, not really "sliced it off" but I cut my finger tip almost all the way through and it left a nice skin flap which was too large to just lop off completely because then I'd have a flat fingertip. So, I washed it out and put globs of anti-biotic ointment and a Bandaid brand adhesive bandage (notice my non-generic use of the brand name) and the flap stuck down after a few days. It made typing rather awkward and painful for about 3 days though, which is part of why there have been no blog entries in the past week. I'm fine now though, only a tiny red speck and a faint semi-circle scar remains on my finger. But, a word to the wise, next time you wash that plastic cover thingie you put on food in the microwave to stop splatters, watch out for those vent holes, they BITE!

In cat news, apparently jealous of mommy's injury, my cat decided to get one yesterday. I dunno how she did it, fight, picking roses off the neighbor's bush, fishing accident ... but somehow she got a scratch on her eye and I had to take her to the vet which cost me $138. Sheesh. I knew I shoulda bought that pet insurance a few months ago. Oh well, it's my own damn fault for not cooping my kitty up in a stuffy cluttered furniture-crowded room all day long where she could go batty and destroy all my stuff while I'm at school. Poor kitty loves to go outside and chase bugs and play with her kitty friends and beat up neighbor dogs (ok, I just made that last part up but I'll bet if she was bigger, she would, she's a feisty little critter.) But now I'm considering making her a house cat, even if it drives her to the loony bin. Or maybe not, she looks so pathetic pawing at the window trying to go out. But winter is coming and she won't be out much during the day anyway soon. Maybe I'll just let her out while I'm home to watch her. In any case, she's grounded for a week till the vet sees her at her followup visit. And, I have to say it was nice to actually get some sleep last night. Yeah I know it's mean, but the cat wasn't feeling up to annoying me with her usual 3 hour "wakeup" playtime which normally begins at 5am. I actually had to wake HER up this morning to put eyedrops in her eye. Poor thing. She seems to be coping fairly well though, she was playful today, albeit squinty. Speaking of squinty, her new nickname is Squinny. I'll add that to her ever-growing list on her website one of these days.

Uhm ... lemme see, what else ... grocery strike is still going on and I'm getting rather irked. The strikers are getting increasingly annoying and obnoxious (mostly thanks the their union telling all the Ralphs strikers to go picket at Albertsons and Vons, so now there are more of them) so it's less pleasant to cross picket lines, but I still do it. I went to Ralphs the other day again though and man, what a pathetic store, empty shelves, no carts unless ya get one from the lot, dirty, no deli/bakery junk (the salad bar actually had stuffed animals in it) and the employees there are rude (the replacement ones) and the few union workers there are whiny and grumpy. I haven't been to Stater Brothers recently cuz the lot is always full, and I hate that store now. In fact, I hate all the grocery stores now. I may just stop eating soon, I dunno. Well, except soda, I gotta have that but I can buy that at Wal-Mart or K-Mart or even Target. I dunno what T-Day will be like, maybe mommy will pass on the turkey this year and we can eat hot dogs and beans or something, I hope. I despise turkey. Well, unless it's turned into hot dogs or something. Anyway, maybe I'll get lucky and not have to do the annual "Mmmm ... turkey!" thing this year.

The other day we got a nifty rainstorm here too, or should I say a few miles from here they got a nifty rainstorm that was really a class 6 thunderstorm that dropped something like 6 inches of hail on the ground in Compton and other uhm ... economically disadvantaged parts of the LA area. It was kinda weird too, the next day this big cloud still hung over that area while the rest was clear. Odd. Maybe it was a "test". Some of that "hail" still hasn't melted either ... hmmm ....

Anyway, enough rambling, my finger is getting tired and probably none of you are still reading this anyway, but if you are, here's an invisible calorie-free cookie for your trouble!

Oh! And Governor Ah-Knee is gonna be sworn in on Monday, woot! He vill Tuh-muh-nayt the buh-jet for us! Yay!
