Monday, October 13, 2003 Today I am feeling: amused
Books I am reading: The Shock of the New Robert Hughes Human Variation Stephen Molnar Who is Black? F. James Davis Literature of the Western World Brian Wilkie/James Hurt Games I am playing: Asheron's Call 2: Fallen Kings [online RPG] I went shopping today, or should I say I went on a futile scavenger hunt. I need to buy a blank Halloween mask for my art class, and I went to five different stores, and found nothing. Grrr ... my only other option is to go way downtown to the shop the teacher told us about, and with my luck they'll be out of them. Anyway, while I was driving all over town trying to find what I needed, I realized that there are a lot of grocery stores. How did I notice this? Because there is a strike going on and picketers were everywhere! I was tempted more than once to stop, cross non-chalantly in front of the picketers, go inside the store, buy ice cold drinks to quench their thirst on this warm sunny day, take them outside and taunt the picketers with them ... "So, tell me, how badly do you REALLY want this soda? I bought it inside the store you're picketing! <beam>" then if they took it I could call 'em a hypocrite loser who should look for a real job. Yeah, I hate unions, especially unions for people who would be working minimum wage jobs were it not for the greed of the few who "fight" for their privilege. I don't understand why someone who only works part-time in a grocery store thinks they deserve full medical benefits for free, in addition to wages that are double what non-union people get. Now, I have no problem with people getting "fair" wages but upwards of $14/hour for a grocery checkout clerk (starting pay) is just stupid. I mean, people at McDonald's work harder than that and they get $6.75/hour and no benefits for part-timers. Maybe McD's should go union! That'd cure the obesity problem in the USA. In other news, I was listening to the radio and they were talking about clones and bots and stuff, and a thought occurred to me: Would God love me if I was a clone? If not, then I guess clones would be lucky cuz the Christians would leave them alone! Also kinda makes ya wonder, if people create clones and don't "love" them, then why would God love his creations? We might just be clones to him, after all, we are "made in his image", right? <evil grin> Of course, I don't buy the whole God thing anyway, but if I was God, I wouldn't give a flying fu ... erm ... pig about those silly whiny annoying humans, but it might amuse me in a twisted kinda way to see them fight over who's right and who's wrong about me. In cat news, I went to McDonald's today and got a veggie burger meal with fries, and while I was away from the table, my cat filched a french fry from the box, took a bite, and promptly dropped it on the floor and went and ate some cat food. Mayhaps kitty knows best. Hehe. Tomorrow for lunch I shall have "Nature's Best" dry cat food for lunch!
