Tuesday, June 03, 2003 Today I am feeling: so-so 
Books I am reading: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban J. K. Rowling Games I am playing: The Sims Unleashed [PC] Zoo Tycoon [PC] Sim City 4 [PC] a buncha demos from Computer Gaming World magazine School's out, I have no job, I am bored outta my mind, so I decided to redecorate my room, thanks in part to my mom buying me a chest of drawers from Ikea when I took her there to buy a sofa (which she didn't get but decided to get some of those wacky Poäng chairs instead.) So, I got the chest of drawers then I went back a week later to buy a bookcase organizer thingie to replace my wobbly tv stand/video tape holder thingie. But they were out of the doors and shelves for it, so I just bought the main unit which came with 2 shelves and I also bought a drawer for it. I figured well a new Ikea opens next week maybe I'll go there and check it out. Hahaha bad mistake. A word of serious warning, do NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES attend (or shall I say attempt to attend) an Ikea store grand opening. I went to Costa Mesa, on a Wednesday morning no less, when normal people are supposed to be WORKING but it was so crowded they had cops blocking the entrance to the parking lot because it was FULL. FULL! A parking lot at a major mall FULL!! So I figured, well hell, there must be 1000's of people in there I would hate to think what the line at the pickup window is like. Hehee. So I just kept driving and took a scenic route home (in other words I got lost in Orange County ... wouldn't be the first time either.) So now, I gotta go back to Ikea one of these days and try to get my shelves/doors so I can finish putting all my crap away. I think I will call first though, I've been to Ikea three times in the last 2 weeks. In other news, I finally got my admission letter from school A and it confirms that "provisional" admittance only means "you must obtain at least a C in all classes currently in progress and we must get your transcripts by July 12th." So, the grade thing is no problem cuz I know I got at least 5 A's and maybe if my painting teacher isn't as evil as she seems to be, I'll get a 6th A in that class. The transcript deadline could be a problem though, grades normally aren't sent out until the beginning of July so I might have to go smack some people around in the admissions office of the community college to gimme my transcripts ASAP so I can personally run them over to the enrollment office of the university. Or maybe I could just show 'em a student copy which I should have by then and tell 'em their official one is in the mail. But I will be majorly pissed if they say ooh sorry we didn't get your transcripts, we can't let you in. I had to turn down school B which I did last Friday cuz they needed to know by June 2nd if I was gonna go there, so I don't even have a backup plan anymore unless maybe I can beg my way in if school A flakes out on me. Oh, and I checked online all the classes for fall and outta 17 art classes that I can take and need for my degree, all but TWO of them are full, and both of those are at night which means I'd have to walk almost a mile, in the dark, from the parking lot to the art building. Great, and they don't allow weapons on campus hehe. So, I may end up just taking a buncha general education crap next semester and hope that they get their act together and add more classes or that I get an early enough registration appointment that I can get what I need, cuz one class I need is one of those 4 course series things with each one a pre-req to the next so if I don't get started on it by next semester I have no hope of getting through in 5 semesters. Sometimes I think the "purpose" of a college education isn't academics but learning to deal with crap, cuz it seems there's a lot of it to deal with. Kinda like real life, only worse, cuz in real life you can usually negotiate your way outta the crap or just easily go somewhere else, but with college ya gotta apply so damn far in advance it's not practical, I mean what would life be like if you had to apply for every job you wanted at least a year in advance and then had to wait 8 months for them to decide if they wanted to interview you? Wouldn't that be fun? OK, enough griping, damn I wish they gave degrees in griping I'd be top of the class. Anyway, uhm ... I've been bored so I started re-reading book 3 of the Harry Potter series cuz book 5 comes out later this month, and I had to refresh my memory. I just watched the movies for the first 2 books, but 3 and 4 I don't remember cuz it was like 3 years ago that I read them. And book 5 will probably be wicked and Hagrid will die and Harry will get laid and Hermione will get knocked up ... erm ok, well maybe not, but I have a feeling Hagrid won't be around much longer <sniffle> and he's my favorite character. Authors always kill my favorite characters and keep the ones I can't stand. So Hagrid and/or Ron will probably die or "move on" and icky Hermione and Colin Creepy (erm Creevy, sorry) and Dopey Draco will stay. I gotta admit though, I really do despise Draco, mostly for his bad acting in the movies though. I usually sorta connect with the "evil" characters in books, etc, cuz well, I am evil. I kinda dig Snape and even daddy Malfoy but his kid is a twerp and twerpiness isn't evil. Anyway I'm looking forward to book 5 and no I'm not going to go to a midnight HP party. But I'll enjoy the book cuz it might be the last one, or at least the last one in a LONG time cuz it's been 3 years since book 4 and what's her face has a baby now and we all know how much fun THAT is so it'll be at least 2 years probably before she even begins book 6 and it will have to be longer than all the others so it will take her at least 5 or maybe 10 years to finish and by then no one will care about Harry Potter and so for all practical purposes this will be the last book.
