Friday, April 11, 2003 Today I am feeling: glad I'm not a dinosaur.
I went to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art today and also to the Page Museum. I am glad I am not a mammoth or something, stuck in that tar, which, I might add, smells mighty fine on a hot day. Unfortunately, today wasn't a hot day. Anyway, I went to LACMA cuz I had to scope out a picture to do a research paper on. I'd picked Rembrandt before I went but the only one I could find was pretty dumpy, so I scoped out a couple other pix, unfortunately, one I couldn't find a picture of anywhere (including the internet) so I probably can't do a report on that one. And another one, by Il Grechetto, I found a picture of it on a postcard in the LACMA gift shop but I can't find much information on the artist, so that one might not be good either. Isn't that the way it always is with research papers? Finding what ya wanna do it on is the most time-consuming part of the work. Oh well, it's not due for antoher 2 1/2 weeks so hopefully I can find info, otherwise I'll just do it on the dopey Rembrandt, since I already checked out about 6 books on him and have read 2. I had fun getting to the museum too, I didn't bother to check a map cuz I've been there before and knew my exit off the freeway, but what I forgot was that the street splits or something, and somehow I ended up on some wacky road to nowhere (some parkway, I forget the name) and I got losted, sorta, so I turned around and drove till I found a familiar street (Sepulveda) then drove on it but realized I was going the wrong way hehee, so anyway I finally found the right way, and after going about 20 miles outta my way, got to the museum. Then, I decided screw this I'm not gonna take Fairfax back to the 10 cuz it was so confusing getting there, so I figured I'll just take La Cienega since that's what I ended up taking, but little did I know some MORON would crash into a bus right on the corner of Wilshire and La Cienega so the road was closed the way I needed it, so I ended up going up to Robertson since I'd already passed Fairfax and drove on it about 3 miles per hour for what seemed like ages cuz every damn other person in Los Angeles got off work at 2pm or something and decided to take Robertson. Anyway, finally made it to the 10 yay! Smooth sailing for a couple minutes till I got on the 405 where it was backed up for miles grrrr. Took me almost 2 hours to get home and I didn't even get lost this time. So, I ended up spending almost 4 hours on the damn freeways just to drive 20 some odd miles to some dopey museum where I spent maybe 20 minutes in each of 'em. I wish someone would invent a teleportation device so I could just warp places right away, but then there would probably be port jams or something. Anyway, in other news, I got one of my trolls that I bought off ebay. My cat thinks it's hers, she doesn't understand HER troll is still in the mail (hopefully anyway, ya never know with ebay.) It's a cute troll too, bigger than the other ones I have and it's an "artist" troll with light green hair and a paintbrush in its hand. Looks just like me, too! Hehe. Just kidding.
