Another space shuttle blew up today ... erm I mean another space shuttle had an "incident" today. Back in 1986 the Challenger blew up on liftoff, I remember that vividly, it was the first time ever I'd called in sick to a job (my first "real" job) and I'd slept until about 11am because I was sick, and when I woke up the video footage was all over the TV. So, today, I get up to go to school and turn on the TV and another shuttle has gone kaboom, only this time it happened on re-entry. They claim no terrorism was involved, despite the fact it exploded over Texas, Georgie Bushie's state, and had an Israeli onboard. Personally, I'm surprised the media isn't playing the terrorism card as they so like to do, but maybe there is terrorism involved but they don't wanna say. Personally, I think it was just that the shuttle is really old (it was the Columbia which this happened to, and it's the very first space shuttle, over 20 years old) and I think either one or more of those special heat-proof tiles fell off somehow which caused the shuttle to overheat and go kaboom or else the re-entry trajectory was off which made it come in at too steep an angle which generated too much heat and it couldn't handle it. Or the Iraqis or North Koreans or George Bush Jr testing his "star wars" system shot it down. We may never know, but it may put an end to the space shuttle program, I mean there were only like 5 total shuttles and 2 of 'em have blown up, not very good odds despite over 100 missions, that's about a 2% fatal failure rate.

In other news, my kitten has figured out how to open the refrigerator. So far she's not quite strong enough to actually do it, but she knows exactly how to, by lying on the floor at the bottom corner and leveraging her body against the fridge while pulling with her paws on the edge of the door. Grrr ... oh well, fortunately they make things to keep refrigerator doors safe from tiny hands (and paws) ... at least I hope they do.

In yet other news, I think oil painting mediums make me high. I felt kinda uhm ... groovy driving home from my class today. Kinda almost like dizzy but not in a bad way and kinda zoney like I was dreaming instead of being totally alert. So, does this mean if a cop stopped me he could cite me for being under the influence of linseed oil and Liquin?
