I was very bored today, so bored in fact, that I visited the Internet Archive Way Back Machine. For those of you not aware of this site, it's an archive of old webpages. It allows you to view the internet as it used to be, free from pop-up ads, annoying Java applets, and allows you to bask in the glory of the days when webpages stressed content rather than gimmicks. Well, ok, maybe not, but it's kinda cool nonetheless. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find an archive of my very first webpage, mostly due to the fact I can't remember the URL. But the archive only goes back to 1996 anyway (and there is very little archived back that far anyway), and since my first webpage was completed in 1995, I doubt it'd be there anyway. It was a Geocities page too, which means once I'd moved on to the spiffiness of CompuServe with my page, some other person woulda put their page up in my old spot anyway. It's ok, that old Geocities page was done before I knew HTML, and is in fact, the reason I learned HTML cuz the Geocities web page builder thingie was really, really crappy. I did find an old copy of my Geocities Japan webpage though, which I set up cuz I thought it was fun trying to sign up for a webpage when the form was in Japanese. And at the time I got it, there were no popup and scrolling ads on the Geocities Japan pages, unlike their annoying American counterparts. Unfortunately, none of the archived pages have anything of interest on them, but they prove my existence! Hehe.

Anyway, the oldest one of my webpages I was able to find was my old Cosmocat webpage on Earthlink, which I started in late 1995 and I think I dumped in about 1999, when I moved to Mindspring, which, a couple months later got bought out by Earthlink grrr. Hehee. I still have my Mindspring account too, but I don't use it for internet access anymore, I just keep it for email and nostalgia's sake so I can say "I've had Earthlink since before they were an ISP." Well, ok, they were an ISP then, but they weren't a nationwide ISP, they were only on the west coast at first, so there!
