Wow, they're finally maybe gonna change the Pledge of Allegiance to the way I've been saying it since third grade! Well, almost, I didn't used to say that part about "liberty and justice for all" either because it was a lie. Kind of interesting though, personally I think it's kinda cool but on the other hand this country was sorta founded on Christian principles, like it or not, and most Christians that I know of at least claim to believe in God. <grin> Maybe they'll change our currency to say "In Corporate Greed We Trust" instead of "In God We Trust" too! Yay!
The whole thing kinda smacks of political correctness though, and I hate how far some of the political correctness has gone, I mean we can't even give our opinions anymore without getting threatened by some lawyer. And kids don't fail in school anymore either cuz the schools are afraid to hurt their self-esteem so they graduate from high school thinking there's an apostrophe before the letter "s" in plural words. "Would you like fry's with that?" Or the other one that bugs the hell outta me: When people use "your" instead of "you're" as in "Your so dumb you dont know how to spell apple's." Hehe. That sentence woulda gotten an "A" by the way.
Anyway, here's my revised (tongue-in-cheek-free-speech-version) of the Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge allegiance to myself,
And my SUV.
One nation bound by greed and pride and
Superficiality.
I just hope they don't remove that free speech amendment from the Constitution. ;)
