Saturday, October 13, 2001 I got my cable earlier this week and so far, all is good. Speed is just slightly lower than advertised even during peak times. I've actually gotten fewer port scans on cable than I used to get on my dialup, too. So, unless every one of my neighbors gets cable and tries to hack me or the cable company goes outta business (who knows, what with all the broadband bankruptcies, it could happen) things should be fine and speedy, 500 meg betas here I come! In other news, earlier this week I saw Tom Brokaw cry ... on the air .... First Dan Rather, now Tom Brokaw. I dunno about you, but seeing normally staid newscasters cry on the air is for me the scariest part of this whole 'Attack on America' thing. Don't they go to school to learn not to show emotion and stuff? What do they know that we don't? Or is it all a media conspiracy to scare up ratings (literally)?
