Monday, September 17, 2001 Today on the bus on my way to school there was a woman speaking *very loudly* about God and the Bible and how we are essentially going to be destroyed like those people in the World Trade Center and Pentagon and Pennsylvania terrorist attacks last Tuesday unless we started *paying attention to God!* Well, being a NONOist, at first I thought, oh brother, another evangelist who wants to convert the whole world to their way of believing. And some of the comments she made were ignorant, like that Buddhists worshipped Buddha ... now, maybe some do, but I've never met one who did. And she made comments such that only in America could something so horrible as the WTC attacks happen because only in America do we say 'In God We Trust' but yet allow people of all religions to worship here, even those who deny God, essentially thumbing our noses at God. And I began to get angry, and if I had been the confrontational type I woulda given her another point of view. But then, I started thinking, yannow, people like her are what makes America so great ... here we can believe what we choose to and we can express our beliefs, whatever they may be. So, I just kinda kicked back and listened to her and thought yannow, she's not so bad ... she's got conviction and something she believes in enough to fight for ... which are a couple things most Americans could use right now.
